WATERTOWN, NY; October 6, 2022 – As a bi-national PBS station serving Northern New York and Eastern Ontario, WPBS is in the fortunate position of celebrating Thanksgiving not once, but twice each year! To mark Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday, October 10th, 2022, we have scheduled some outstanding travel programs which showcase the natural beauty and diversity of Canada, including:

Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope: Ontario, Canada’s Niagara Penninsula-Toronto and Beyond (4:30 pm) Joseph sets out to prove there’s more to the Niagara Peninsula region than world-famous Niagara Falls. To prove his point, he begins his wandering in Toronto, Canada’s largest and most cosmopolitan city. He finds that besides being a cultural Mecca for art, theater, film, music, fine dining, as well as one of the greenest cities in North America, it is one of the world’s most multicultural cities.

Samantha Brown’s Places to Love: Quebec City, Canada (7:00 pm) During Quebec Winter Carnival, Samantha starts her trip off ice canoeing on the frigid waters of the St. Lawrence River. From there she visits a popular Sugar Shack, where she learns about making maple syrup, and has a traditional Quebec meal with the owners.

Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope: Cruising Canada – Ottawa & the Rideau Canal (7:30 pm) Joseph begins his Rideau Canal journey in Ottawa where he explores the capital’s diverse neighborhoods, historic landmarks, farmer’s markets and hip restaurants. He grinds flour in an ancient mill, samples “butter tarts” with the Gingerbread Man, blows glass “witch balls” and helps First Nations craftspeople build a birch bark canoe.
