WATERTOWN, NY (June 10, 2024) – There’s no shortage of murder, mystery, and mayhem in the Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester — but Detective Geordie Keating (Robson Green) and motorcycle riding vicar Will Davenport (Tom Brittney) are always on the case. The long-running MASTERPIECE mystery series Grantchester returns for its 9th Season with eight all-new episodes, starting Sunday, June 16 at 9:00 pm.
In Grantchester Season 9, It’s 1961 and times are changing in Grantchester. Will has begun to seek new challenges elsewhere, while Geordie and Cathy deal with an independent Esme being free in a dangerous world. It’s not long before Reverend Alphy Kottaram arrives as the new vicar, immediately enchanted by the glorious village. But will the locals ever be able to accept him as one of their own?
Lead actor, Tom Brittney who has played Reverend Will Davenport since 2019 has confirmed that Season 9 will be his last. Brittney said, “I’ve had the most incredible time playing Will Davenport for the last five years. I got to solve crimes with my best friend, and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for. I’ll miss it more than anything. But it’s time for the baton to be passed, as it once was to me, and I’m so excited for Rishi to join the Grantchester family.” Welcomed newcomer, Rishi Nair (Hollyoaks, Count Abdulla) joins the cast as the new charismatic vicar, Alphy Kottaram. The cast includes Robson Green as Geordie, Al Weaver (Colette) as the lovable, former curate Leonard Finch; Tessa Peake-Jones (Pride and Prejudice, Doctors) as the stern, mother-figure Mrs. Sylvia Chapman; Kacey Ainsworth (EastEnders, Holby Blue) as Geordie’s take-charge wife Cathy Keating; Oliver Dimsdale (Downton Abbey, Mr. Selfridge) as kind-hearted photographer Daniel Marlowe; Nick Brimble (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, A Knight’s Tale) as Mrs. C’s husband, Jack Chapman; and more.

Amid an abandoned baby and a dead hotel manager discovery, Geordie is blindsided by Will’s news.

Geordie and new vicar Alphy Kottaram get off on the wrong foot.
Episode 4 (Sunday, July 7 at 9:00 pm)
Alphy attends a manor fundraiser, but festivities are cut short when a body is found in the basement.
Episode 5 (Sunday, July 14 at 9:00 pm)
A murder at Esme’s office sends shockwaves through the Keating family. Alphy meets with the bishop.
Episode 6 (Sunday, July 21 at 9:00 pm)
Alphy and Geordie’s murder investigation uncovers a tangled web of betrayal and deceit.
Episode 7 (Sunday, July 28 at 9:00 pm)
When a woman known by Alphy goes missing, he and Geordie race to find the answers.
Episode 8 (Sunday, August 4 at 9:00 pm)
When a reclusive man is found dead, the investigation leads Alphy and Geordie to a shocking revelation.
