WPBS to Broadcast Season 8 of MASTERPIECE Mystery: GRANTCHESTER

WATERTOWN, NY; July 3, 2023 – There’s no shortage of murder, mystery, and mayhem in the Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester — but Detective Geordie Keating (Robson Green) and motorcycle riding vicar Will Davenport (Tom Brittney) are always on the case. The long-running MASTERPIECE mystery series Grantchester returns for its 8th Season with six all-new episodes, starting Sunday, July 9th at 9:00 pm and continues Sundays through August 13, 2023.

In Grantchester Season 8, Will is happy, and Geordie and Cathy content in their relationship. But an accident and shocking announcements threaten the stability and happiness found by Grantchester’s vicar and police detective duo. Exploring faith, forgiveness, and redemption, this explosive season of Grantchester tests Will and Geordie to the limit.

Tom Brittney says, “I’m absolutely chuffed that…I get to continue playing a character I adore so much. To be part of a show as well loved as this one, that is now in its eighth series, is an absolute honor.” Brittney is joined by Robson Green as Geordie, Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs. C, Al Weaver as Leonard Finch, Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman, and Charlotte Ritchie as Bonnie. Special guest actors for this series include Shaun Dingwall (Top Boy, Noughts & Crosses), Jeff Rawle (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Doc Martin) and Jemima Rooper (Gold Digger, The Girlfriend Experience).

There will be six, all-new episodes in the explosive new season of Grantchester.

Episode 1 (Sunday, July 9, 9:00 pm)
After a fun-filled charity motorbike race, a young biker is found dead. Will and Geordie struggle to work out who would want to hurt a gifted young man.

Episode 2 (Sunday, July 16, 9:00 pm)
In the aftermath of a fatal accident, Will is devastated to be the cause while Geordie rushes to exonerate his friend.

Episode 3 (Sunday, July 23, 9:00 pm)
At one of Cambridge’s most prestigious colleges, a man is murdered and a valuable painting is stolen, leaving Geordie to determine if the two crimes are linked.

Episode 4 (Sunday, July 30, 9:00 pm)
Leonard is devastated when a halfway house resident is found dead. The man confessed suicidal thoughts to Will, but is this suicide or murder?

Episode 5 (Sunday, August 6, 9:00 pm)
Geordie is placed on desk duty as Elliot contrives to force him to resign. The next murder case is handed to Larry, who struggles but wisely enlists the help of Miss Scott.

Episode 6 (Sunday, August 13, 9:00 pm)
Will has disappeared, but with Bonnie about to give birth, Geordie must find him and bring him to his senses before it is too late.
