WPBS Presents New 5-Episode Fishing Series Road Trip Angler in July 2024

WATERTOWN, NY (July 26, 2024) – WPBS, the public media organization serving Northern New York and Eastern Ontario, boasts a longstanding and well-deserved reputation for some of the best fishing programs – appropriate given our location in a region known for unmatched angling opportunities. Bill Saiff’s Rod & Reel and Streamside with Don Meissner in the 1980s,1990s and 2000s were long-running nationally distributed series and the tradition continued with more recent series including The New Fly Fisher and Fishing Behind the Lines. Our newest release – premiering on WPBS and soon to be airing on PBS stations across the country – focuses on kayak fishing, which is rapidly growing in popularity across the nation.

In Road Trip Angler, airing on Mondays at 7:30 pm, starting July 29th, host Jameson Redding hits the road to find the best fishing spots in America. Road Trip Angler is a multifaceted media project designed to help inspire both avid anglers and outdoor lovers to get outside and go fishing. EPISODE DESCRIPTIONS

Tennessee (Monday, July 29 at 7:30 pm)

Jameson Redding travels to Tennessee to experience their legendary fishing opportunities.

Texas & Louisiana (Monday, August 5 at 7:30 pm)

Jameson Redding starts out in San Marcos, Texas and then heads to the flats of Freeport, Texas and Point Aux Chenes, Louisiana to chase redfish.

Tallahassee to Tampa (Monday, August 12 at 7:30 pm)

Jameson Redding heads south to hit the spring fed rivers for bass, then travels to the Florida coast to chase snook under the docks.

Alabama-Georgia Line (Monday, August 19 at 7:30 pm)

Jameson Redding is joined by friends near Columbus, Georgia where they chase hybrids, striper, spotted bass, largemouth, and shoal bass.

Pacific Northwest (Monday, August 26 at 7:30 pm)

Jameson Redding tests his skills as he travels to the Pacific Northwest to fish for new species in unfamiliar waters.

 

About Jameson Redding

Jameson discovered kayak fishing over a decade ago, when he took a leap of faith and dedicated himself to the sport, developing an unmatched connection to the community that surrounds it. Over the years, Jameson has held many positions in the industry, starting as a sponsored angler and moving on to retail, tech, then sales where he became the brand manager of fishing at Jackson Kayak. 

About Heliconia
