July 14, 2017, Watertown, NY – WPBS-DT has won four Awards for their three-part documentary series, Discovering Watertown. The documentary chronicles the fascinating and rich history of Watertown, New York in three thirty minute episodes. Part-one, Settlement & the Early Years, covers the prehistoric ice age through the founding of Watertown and into the 1840’s. Part-two, Industrial Growth & Prosperity, shows us how the city transforms from a rugged wilderness into an industrial powerhouse. Part-three, The Modern Era, Watertown adjusts to a world after World War II and new challenges. This production encompasses WPBS-DT’s four avenues of service: Education, Economic Development, Travel & Tourism and Arts & Culture.
WPBS-DT has won the “Award of Distinction” from the 2017 Communicator Awards. With over 6000 entries received from across the US and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring the creative excellence for communications professionals.

Founded by communication professionals over a decade ago, The Communicator Awards is an annual competition honoring the best in advertising, corporate communications, public relations and identity work for print, video, and interactive. This year’s Communicator Awards received thousands of entries from companies and agencies of all sizes, making it one of the largest awards of its kind in the world.
WPBS-DT has also won the “Award of Merit” from the 2017 Accolade Global Film Competition Awards. WPBS-DT joins the ranks of other high-profile winners of the internationally respected award.
The Accolade recognizes film, television, videography and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change. Entries are judged by highly qualified professionals in the film and television industry.
Out of more the 1,200 submissions from 33 countries, WPBS-DT has won a “Rose Gold Award” in the 2017 Muse Creative Awards Competition.
The Muse Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals who inspire through concept, writing or design, whether through traditional or electronic media. “We wish to recognize the singular achievements of small and medium-sized firms, and the creative professionals who represent the heart and soul of the global marketing communications industry,” said Kenjo Ong, co-managing director for the Muse Creative Awards (MCA). “They follow the spark of an inner muse, lighting the path to success with deep knowledge and shining originality.”
WPBS-DT has been awarded “Distinction in Editing” as a part of the 2017 Videographer Awards. Over 1,500 entries were judged for this award.
Videographer recognizes outstanding achievement by talented individuals and companies in the video production field. Entrants include video production companies, advertising and public relations firms, corporate communication departments, cable and broadcast television operations, government agencies and schools, independent producers and wedding and special event producers. Past winners have come from all 50 states and numerous countries.
