WPBS DT OUTREACH EVENT FOUCES ON PROHIBITION ERA

WPBS-DT, Watertown, NY PBS, is pleased to announce their latest outreach event, Rum Across the River, a component to the national television series PROHIBITION, premiering on October 2 on Public Television by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick telling the story of the rise, rule and fall of the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the era it encompassed.

On the evening of Saturday, October 1, WPBS-DT and Uncle Sam Boat Tours in Alexandria Bay will host Rum Across the River from 6:30 pm- 8:30 pm. Tickets are $15 per person and include a two-hour international boat tour, a variety of hors d’oeuvres with cash bar and a brief preview of the national series PROHIBITION in addition to local video segments documenting how in Northern New York, rum running was especially rampant across the St. Lawrence River separating New York from Canada making crime more common in the dangerous yet lucrative bootlegging business.
