Flamenco: The Land is Still Fertile (12 noon) A documentary about traditional flamenco – a passionate art form recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Learn about flamenco’s ties to gitanos (Spanish Gypsy people) and its future. 

Wonders of Mexico – Forests of the Maya (2:00 pm) In Mexico’s far south lies an unusual peninsula: The Yucatan, a place full of secrets which hold the key to how animals and people survive the long and difficult times.

Wonders of Mexico – Mountain Worlds (3:00 pm) Mexico is a vast country, dominated by a great chain of mountains, the Sierra Madre. Journey down this rocky spine and you’ll discover an amazing diversity of life and culture.

Wonders of Mexico-  Burning North (4:00 pm) Northern Mexico is dominated by two great deserts; the Sonoran and Chihuahuan. Discover that for the animals living here, overcoming the arid conditions can bring rich rewards.

American Masters: A Song for Cesar (12 noon) Explore the life and work of Cesar Chavez, a civil rights activist and labor leader who used music as a tool to unite and inspire workers during the United Farm Workers’ struggle for better labor conditions.

Los Hermanos/The Brothers (1:30 pm) Virtuoso Afro-Cuban-born brothers, violinist Ilmar and pianist Aldo, live on opposite sides of a geopolitical chasm a half-century wide. This film tracks their parallel lives in New York and Havana, their poignant reunion, and their momentous first performances together.

POV: The Song of the Butterflies (3:00 pm) Indigenous painter Rember Yahuarcani pursues a successful career in Lima, but when he finds himself in a creative rut, he returns home to his Amazonian community and discovers why his ancestors’ stories cannot be forgotten.

Last Mambo (4:00 pm) Explore the heritage of the San Francisco Bay Area Salsa and Latin Jazz community.
