The annual WPBS Auction (formerly the “All Star Auction”) is a longstanding and beloved North Country tradition which marks its 50th anniversary in 2020. In March, just as final preparations were underway to stage the auction, the pandemic arrived and forced WPBS to take another look and see what the options were.
The innovative and nimble development team at WPBS researched alternative approaches and consulted with other non-profits including PBS stations across the country, and have now redesigned the auction so that it may be held safely. WPBS is proud to bring a new, fresh hybrid of this year’s auction with both an online and live-on-air event during the following times:
- Online auction preview will be available on wpbstv.org beginning September 1st.
- Online bidding opens September 14th, also on wpbstv.org. Assistance will be available for those who are unable to access the guide.
- On-air presentation and bidding over 5 nights from Thursday, September 24th through Monday, September 28th.
WPBS wishes to thank the many local businesses and individuals who have supported the auction with their generous donations. Since 1958, WPBS has contributed to the quality of life across our region with the finest commercial free children’s programming, trusted news and current affairs, stories of local interest and exceptional arts, science, and history documentaries. All of this has been made possible through the kind support of many members of our community. Especially now we urge you to support and patronize our local businesses.
