WPBS Announces Winners of the 2025 WPBS Writers Contest

WATERTOWN, NY (March 26, 2025) – WPBS is excited to announce the winners of the 2025 WPBS KIDS Writers Contest, a cherished annual tradition that provides a unique opportunity for young authors to showcase their creativity. Each year, children in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade submit a variety of stories for consideration. After careful evaluation by a panel of local educators, the winning entries are chosen based on their creativity, originality, and imagination.

“Education is at the heart of our mission at WPBS, and we focus much of our attention and resources on helping educators and parents give young children the best possible start on their educational journey. Reading skills, and the ability to convey ideas through narrative and writing, are fundamental. Our collective future here in the North Country depends on the success of our young people. Through this annual contest we’re delighted to celebrate the achievements of these talented and creative youth and thank all the entrants, their parents and our judges for their participation,” said Mark Prasuhn, President and General Manager at WPBS-TV.

The award ceremony recognizing the 2025 Writers Contest winners took place during the annual Ready-Set-Fun! Literacy Festival at the Salmon Run Mall on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Winners were honored with certificates and prizes in recognition of their achievements.

Please join WPBS in congratulating the winners and extending thanks to all the young authors and their families who participated in this year’s contest!
