Hurricane Helene is in the Gulf of Mexico and headed toward Florida. Floridians across the state are evacuating, or filling sandbags and preparing to hunker down in the face of heavy rains, storm surge and floods. Atmospheric scientist and senior meteorologist at MyRadar, Matthew Cappucci, spoke to the PBS News from Florida on what to know about the approaching hurricane.
