Thomas Warren, one of the youngest delegates at the 2024 Republican National Convention, tells PBS News Hour’s Lisa Desjardins that he believes the economy is driving younger voters to former President Donald Trump.
“Look at the inflation we have right now. Look at the expenses people are having on their pocketbooks, grocery prices are going up,” Warren said Wednesday on the convention floor. “I think Americans are just feeling it more now, and they’re wishing for the days of Trump again.”
The 25-year-old is also the GOP nominee for tax assessor-collector in Potter County, Texas.
“While we haven’t always agreed with all of his actions or his style on some things, I think he is a man who cares about the country and I’m comfortable with where he’s at on promoting American values,” Warren said of Trump.
The third day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Wednesday is devoted to foreign policy and national security, as well as Sen. J.D. Vance’s formal acceptance of the vice presidential nomination.
Trump named Vance as his running mate Monday. During the convention, delegates will adopt a party platform and Trump will address the convention Thursday.
