President Joe Biden is staying in the 2024 presidential race, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Wednesday.
“That is what the president has promised to do. That is what he wants to continue to work on the successes that he’s had,” she told reporters at the White House.
Biden has faced mounting pressure by some to drop out of the race following his debate performance last week against Republican Donald Trump, over concerns about his age and ability to run the country.
The White House has tried to calm concerns among Democrats, announcing Tuesday that the president will sit for a network TV interview and hold a press conference in the coming days.
Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday joined a call with campaign staff, promising to push ahead.
