Former president Donald Trump entered the Republican National Convention on Monday to thunderous applause and chants of support — his first formal appearance since surviving an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.
The suspected shooter, who was killed by law enforcement, killed one person and seriously injured two.
With bandages around his ear, Trump appeared emotional as he walked onstage to a live version of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” Earlier in the day, he was officially nominated as the Republican candidate for president.
