The Rev. Al Sharpton spoke Thursday on the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, drawing a sharp contrast between Vice President Kamala Harris and her opponent on the issue of race.
“In every job [Harris has] had, she has consistently committed to making government work for those of us who’ve been disadvantaged,” the civil rights leader said. Donald Trump has been consistent about making himself richer and “sowing division to get that done.”
Sharpton also cited Trump’s comments that downplayed the actions of white supremacists in the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and calling for the execution of the wrongly accused Central Park Five in 1989.
