President Joe Biden wrapped up a Wednesday night Oval Office address by saying that the people rule the United States, not “kings and dictators.”
He continued, “History is in your hands. The power is in your hands. The idea of America lies in your hands. You just have to keep the faith.”
Earlier in his address, Biden said that while he believed his accomplishments as president merited a second term, he realized that passing the torch to a new generation was the best way to unite the country and preserve democracy.
Wednesday’s speech was Biden’s first public address since he ended his run for a second term in office and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
