WATCH: Sen. Paul speaks in hearing with acting Secret Service director

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. spoke in a hearing Tuesday where U.S. Secret Service acting director Ronald Rowe and FBI deputy director Paul Abbate testified on the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.

Paul criticized the lack of communication between the Secret Service and his investigative team, which traveled to Pennsylvania to meet with local law enforcement this past Friday.

“One of the concerning things my team was told is that no one from Secret Service has talked to them since the shooting. I don’t know how an investigation into what failed can be conducted without talking to the officers and agencies who were relied upon to do much of the work,” Paul said.

The Senate Homeland Security hearing was the latest to examine what investigators have learned about the shooter who attempted to assassinate Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally, as well as the security failures that preceded the deadly shooting.

Rowe, who since 2023 had been serving as deputy director of the Secret Service, was appointed acting director after Kimberly Cheatle’s resignation.
