New York Sen. Chuck Schumer spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Tuesday, a night devoted to bringing “bold vision” to America’s future and a new generation of Democratic leadership.
Schumer, the Senate majority leader, praised Democratic nominee for president Kamala Harris as an ally to the chamber in her role as vice president.
He harkened back to her time as a California senator, saying when he worked with Harris, he “saw a leader who was fearless, who stood up for middle class families like the one she was raised in.”
Later in the week, Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will formally accept their nominations as the party’s candidates.
