Rep. Sean Maloney, D-N.Y, questioned Marie Yovanovitch, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. Maloney highlighted the efforts of Yovanovitch and others to combat corruption in Ukraine. Maloney outlined the timeline of how Yovanovitch was ousted from her position after she became the target of a smear campaign. Yovanovitch was told she was being recalled shortly after honoring an anti-corruption advocate in Ukraine. The impeachment probe centers around a July phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
