WATCH: Rep. Dean recounts Trump’s violent language leading up to Jan. 6 attack

Rep. Madeleine Dean, D-Pa., an impeachment manager, spoke Feb. 10 as House Democrats made their case for why the Senate should convict former President Donald Trump on a charge of inciting insurrection during the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Trump was impeached by the House in January, while he was still in office.

Dean, tearing up at times, recounted the events of Jan. 6, when a mob of protesters breached the U.S. Capitol after attending a rally in support of Trump. “For me and for many Americans, January 6th is forever etched in our memories,” Dean said.

Dean argued that Trump’s actions and rhetoric that day were singularly focused on the “big lie” of election fraud that he had spent months perpetuating, which he used as “a drumbeat to motivate anger and incite his supporters.”
