Rep. Adam Schiff, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, questioned Fiona Hill, the White House’s former Russia adviser on Nov. 21, in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. In response to Schiff’s questions, Hill explained that Russia has a long history of trying to “pin the blame” on someone else and has an interest in blaming Ukraine for what was actually Russia’s meddling in the U.S. 2016 presidential election. The impeachment inquiry has focused on a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
