Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer spoke to PBS News Hour’s Amna Nawaz on Wednesday about the 2024 presidential race and the divisions within the Democratic Party about President Joe Biden’s candidacy.
“The only person that decides whether or not Joe Biden stays in this race is Joe Biden,” Whitmer said. “He’s made his decision and it’s time for us to not wring our hands, but let’s roll up our sleeves and let’s do the work.”
While Biden has insisted that he will stay in the race, some Democrats have publicly aired concerns about the president’s ability to carry out his reelection campaign and defeat former President Donald Trump.
