Ace tennis player Francis Tiafoe currently ranked a career-high 10th in the world and has two title wins under his belt this season. In April, he won on clay in Houston, and he claimed the trophy on grass in Stuttgart, Germany, two months later. Tiafoe lost in the round of 32 at all three of the other major tournaments this year (the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon).
But ahead of this year’s U.S. Open at Flushing Meadows in New York, Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz are making history. This year marks the first time since 2012 two American males are in the top 10 of the world tennis rankings.
On Wednesday night, the 25-year-old Maryland native will face Sebastian Ofner of Austria in the second round of the U.S. Open. Before then, Tiafoe shared with the PBS NewsHour’s Anna Nawaz some of his favorite music and movies off the court.
