WATCH: JD Vance’s ‘humble beginnings’ will attract voters, says Nevada Senate candidate Sam Brown

Sam Brown, the GOP Senate candidate from Nevada, said Sen. J.D. Vance’s humble beginnings will help attract voters to Republican candidates as the party’s vice presidential nominee.

“He had undoubtedly a very tough childhood,” Brown told PBS News Hour’s Amna Nawaz at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Wednesday. “J.D. Vance’s life demonstrates that we can have hope. You can still aspire and achieve incredible things regardless of the tough circumstances we’re in.”

Brown is challenging Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen, who was elected in 2018. He said the state of Nevada is constantly evolving and has seen a shift since that election.

“We’re a transient state. A lot of people move in and out,” Brown said.

“Right now we have almost identical registration between Republicans and Democrats, a lot of people in the middle as independents, and they weren’t necessarily there when Jacky Rosen was elected six years ago.”

“People are just looking for someone who they can trust, who they can relate to, and who will lead with their best interest in mind,” Brown said.
