Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday made a surprise stop in Kyiv, where he sought to demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine as it faces a new Russian assault along its northeastern border.
As Blinken is known to do on occasion, he also made time for a little musical diplomacy. A video shows Blinken with an electric guitar joining a local punk and jazz band called 19.99 on stage at a night club.
“The United States is with you and so much of the world is with you,” Blinken told the crowd, before launching into a rendition of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” alongside the group.
