During President Joe Biden’s address to the nation marking the anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic, he highlighted the elevated racism and violence Asian Americans have experienced.
“It’s wrong, it’s un-American and it must stop,” Biden said.
Hate crimes against the community have spiked, stemming from false racist allegations that Asian people were responsible for the pandemic because of the virus’ origins in China. While they’re being attacked, Biden said, “so many of them … are on the front lines of this pandemic trying to save lives.”
