WATCH: Biden receives ovation in first joint appearance with Harris after leaving presidential race

President Joe Biden made his first joint appearance on Thursday with Vice President Kamala Harris since he dropped out of the 2024 presidential election in late July.

At an event celebrating the results of drug price negotiations under a 2022 law that enables Medicare to negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies, Harris first took time to thank Biden for his role in passing the law, and for his service as president. “I could speak all afternoon about the person I am standing on this stage with,” Harris remarked, before the Maryland crowd erupted for a long ovation peppered with chants of “Joe, Joe, Joe.”

“There is a lot of love in this room for our President,” Harris said, “Few leaders in our nation have done more on so many issues, including to expand access to affordable healthcare like Joe Biden.”
