We’ve all heard about rising seas, hotter temperatures and the other dangers of climate change, but how will a warmer future affect our daily lives? New climate adaptation plans recently released by more than 20 U.S. federal agencies reveal some surprisingly specific ways that climate change will affect Americans. Disruptions range from transportation slowdowns to a bounty of challenges for livestock and crop producers. Even space exploration and cybersecurity will suffer the effects of the changing climate. As the COP26 climate conference comes to a close, world leaders will put new plans in place to address the threats of climate change. But will they be enough? Otherwise, as outlined in these reports, the future is looking a lot like a real-life apocalyptic movie. Here are five specific ways climate change, if not handled soon, could affect our everyday lives.
