Former President Donald Trump amplified false rumors that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were stealing and eating pets in the community.
Although city officials have said there’s no evidence to support that claim, Trump said immigrants in Springfield were “eating the pets of the people that live there.”
Trump used the anti-immigrant talking point, one that’s also been pushed by his running mate JD Vance on the campaign trail, during his Sept. 10 debate against Vice President Kamala Harris in Philadelphia.
