Hamas formally responds to a U.S. cease-fire proposal backed by Israel and asks for several amendments, including a timeline on a permanent cease-fire and full Israeli withdrawal. Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens; UNICEF estimates that 90 percent of children there don’t have enough food. And in Northern Israel, concerns about fighting with Hezbollah grows as more Israelis are displaced.
