Obama raps Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ at rally

After rapper Eminem introduced Barack Obama at a rally in Detroit Tuesday and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the White House, the former president attempted to be The Real Slim Shady.

“I have done a lot of rallies, so I don’t usually get nervous,” Obama said. “But I was feeling some kind of way following Eminem.”

The former president then launched into a first-person version of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” from the 2002 movie “8 Mile.”

“I notice my palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, vomit on my sweater already, mom’s spaghetti. I’m nervous, but on the surface, I look calm and ready to drop bombs. But I keep on forgetting,” Obama rapped as the crowed reacted with cheers. “Love, love me some Eminem.”

Michigan and its 15 electoral votes are key for either nominee in the 2024 presidential election. In 2016, GOP nominee Donald Trump won the state before Democratic nominee Joe Biden flipped Michigan back in 2020.
