WPBS-TV, the PBS affiliate station serving Northern New York and Eastern Ontario, is delighted to welcome Elijah “Eli” Anderson to its team as Communications and Digital Coordinator. In this pivotal role, Eli will shepherd the organization’s extensive activities in paid and earned media, and ensure a continued strong presence on digital and social media platforms. He will take up this new role effective Monday, January 3rd, 2022.
Eli’s background and experience is extraordinarily well suited for this role. Since 2019 he has served as Marketing Specialist/Webmaster for Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, where he maintains and manages the organization’s website and social media accounts, as well as writing and editing newsletters and assisting in media relations and advertising. Prior to that he was Communications Coordinator for the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization and a staff writer for the Watertown Daily Times. Eli earned his bachelor’s degree from Cazenovia College, where he participated in Study Abroad opportunities in the U.K. and Ireland and was keynote speaker at his convocation. He is also a member of the LEAD Council at the Northern New York Community Foundation.
“We are delighted to have Eli join the WPBS family,” said WPBS-TV President and General Manager, Mark Prasuhn. “WPBS has a long and proud history of serving communities across Northern New York and Eastern Ontario with the finest educational media content, and at the same time we have our sights firmly on the digital future. Over the past couple of years we have relaunched our website, added a new digital app, made WPBS available as a livestream on the Internet and on new distribution platforms such as YouTube TV, and nearly tripled the amount of online video content on our website and YouTube channels. We are grateful to our former Director of Communications, Andy Lackey, for positioning WPBS so well and look forward to working with Eli to build on these achievements and take our digital presence and community profile to the next level”.
“I’m very excited to join the WPBS team and get to work spreading the word about all of the great new things happening at the station,” said Eli Anderson. “As a Northern New York native, I know firsthand the value WPBS brings to our communities and I look forward to being a part of such an important and longstanding organization.”
