Since the “beginning of our republic,” there have been debates on whether the United States Supreme Court should have term limits, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson told PBS News’ Geoff Bennett.
President Joe Biden in July unveiled proposed reforms to the Supreme Court, including 18-year term limits for justices.
“It’s a political process to make a determination as to whether or not that should be changed, and in our democracy, people are engaging in that debate right now,” Jackson said.
The Supreme Court justice sat down with Bennett in New York Tuesday to talk about her memoir, “Lovely One,” which details her journey to become the first Black woman on the nation’s highest court.
