Government shutdown imminent as House Republicans reject latest Senate effort

Federal workers were put on notice that a shutdown is imminent and millions of government employees and military members could stop being paid in three days. The Senate has worked in a bipartisan manner to prevent a shutdown, but the hold-up is with House Republicans, some of whom are refusing to support any short-term measure that would buy Congress more time to act.
