Firefighters work to slow wildfire near Yosemite #shorts

The Oak Fire has burned more than 16,000 acres [or 26 square miles] in California near Yosemite National Park. Hot and dry conditions linked to climate change are making it an exceptionally tough wildfire to fight.

Firefighters significantly slowed down its spread Sunday night. The smoke drifted as far as Lake Tahoe, creating poor air quality in the area.

The fire engulfed homes in the sparsely populated mountain communities of Mariposa County. So far, more than 6,000 people have been forced to evacuate.
