With his longtime accompanist Val McCallum on lead guitar and engineer Kevin Smith on cowbell, Jackson Browne performs an exclusive version of his recent single, “My Cleveland Heart,” for NewsHour Weekend. The music was written by McCallum and the lyrics by Browne, inspired, he told Rolling Stone, by an Ohio plant that manufactures artificial hearts. “I could use one of those,” he thought as he drove past the facility, and a song was born.
