Dunkirk Lighthouse, Dunkirk, NY
– The first light on this site was built in 1826 and rebuilt in 1857.
– The structure’s proximity to the ever-eroding cliffside made it unsafe.
– The present lighthouse was built further inland in 1875 and is still operational.
– Lighthouse is now part of the Veteran’s Park Museum with guided tours available.
Gift shop and other marine displays are also on the property.
