Biden: ‘Confident’ in free, fair election, unsure about peaceful transition #shorts

President Joe Biden said Friday that he had confidence that the 2024 election “will be free and fair.”

Yet, he added, “I don’t know whether it will be peaceful.”

The president made a surprise appearance in the White House briefing room to discuss the latest jobs numbers and the tentative deal reached in the port workers strike. He also took some questions from reporters.

Biden referenced former President Donald Trump’s past comments on the integrity of elections and the fact that GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance did not directly answer a question during the vice presidential debate earlier this week about whether Biden won the 2020 election.

“The things that Trump has said and the things that he said last time out, when he didn’t like the outcome of the election, were very dangerous,” Biden said. “I’m concerned about what they’re going to do.”
