WPBS-TV Presents Special Programming for Veteran’s Day/Remembrance Day

WATERTOWN, NY (November 1, 2022) – Each year at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month – November 11th, coinciding with the armistice that brought an end to WWI – we honor the courage and service of our veterans. Veteran’s Day in the United States and Remembrance Day in Canada, November 11th is a time for all of us to reflect on the sacrifices of military service members and their families. As we do each year, WPBS is proud to present a lineup of special programming marking the day including:

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH
Walk with Frank (12 noon) A film about self-discovery, mental health, and one man’s journey towards understanding and embracing PTSD.

Canada Remembers: Our Heroes: Brothers & Borders (1:00 pm) Educational, inspirational and entertaining footage from representative Canadian and U.S. veterans, focuses on the long relationship between both nations through times of war and peace.

Canada Remembers: Operation Friction (2:00 pm) Operation Friction gives historical context and firsthand accounts of Canada’s military involvement in the First Gulf War, which began in 1990.

Songwriting with Soldiers (3:00 pm) A unique collaborative of professional artists working with veterans to tell their stories of war and the return home through song.

USO – For the Troops (4:00 pm) Examine the ways the USO has lifted the spirits of American service personnel for more than 75 years.

Music & The Spoken Word: Veterans Day Special (6:30 pm) A special broadcast with The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square – with conductor Mack Wilberg, organist Andrew Richard Elliott, and narrator Lloyd Newell.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH
After Action (9:00 pm) Stories of 21 veterans are highlighted as they share their experiences of training, deployment and, most of all, life “after action.

Her War, Her Story: WWII (10:00 pm) Actress Jane Lynch narrates the stories of more than two dozen women’s experiences during the war – from members of the U.S. Women’s Army Corps to the civilian witnesses to the war in Europe.
