WATCH: Rep. Luria says there’s ‘no official record’ of what Trump did as Capitol was attacked

Rep. Elaine Luria, D-Va., spoke on July 21 as the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack presented its findings to the public. The hearing focused on what former President Donald Trump was doing during the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol in an effort to interrupt the certification of Joe Biden’s presidential victory.

Luria said that the committee has testimony that shows “within 15 minutes of leaving the stage, President Trump knew that the Capitol was besieged and under attack.” Other witnesses confirmed that Trump was in the West Wing dining room, with the TV tuned into Fox News, for more than two and a half hours.

There was no official record of what Trump did while in the dining room. Luria also said the presidential log was “silent” and that the White House photographer was told to not take photos that day.

“There is no official record of President Trump receiving or placing a call between 11:06 and 6:54 p.m.,” she added.

In the year since its creation, the committee has conducted more than 1,000 interviews, seeking critical information and documents from people witness to, or involved in, the violence that day.
