WATCH: DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s full statement on FBI handling of Nassar case

Michael E. Horowitz, the inspector general for the Justice Department, testified on Sept. 15 before the Senate Judiciary Committee as lawmakers examined how the FBI handled its investigation of former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, who was convicted in 2018 of sexually abusing young female athletes in his care. In his opening statement, Horowitz said FBI agents who received information about Nassar’s abuse betrayed their law enforcement responsibilities and duties to the gymnasts. He added their findings show in 2017 and 2018 Indianapolis officials provided inaccurate information to make it appear that they had been diligent.
