Watertown, NY – December 5, 2018 – WPBS-TV hosts a festive high school concert for the Holidays.  Five select high school choirs from Watertown, Indian River, South Jefferson, and Lowville perform holiday favorites and seasonal hymns.

The concert, taped in mid-November, celebrates the talent of our surrounding schools select choirs.  Also included are “Letters to Santa,” written by students at Sherman Elementary School in Watertown, and Wilson Elementary School in Adams Center.   “This is a very festive way for us to enjoy and share the talent of our surrounding school’s finest performers,” said Tracy DuFlo, Director of Production at WPBS-TV.  “We’re hoping that this concert becomes a local holiday tradition, with even more schools participating next year.”

Lowville Academy, under the choral direction of Jan M. Lyndaker, sings acapella renditions of “Jingle Bell Calypso” and “Carol of the Bells.”

South Jefferson High School, under the choral direction and keyboard accompaniment of Connie Bast, performs “Hallelujah, I Believe” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”

Beaver River High School, under the choral direction and keyboard accompaniment of Kendra Virkler, performs “Sleigh Ride” and “A Christmas Portrait,” a medley of three holiday favorites.

Watertown High School, under the choral direction and keyboard accompaniment of Rebecca Rose, performs “Et in Terra Pax (And on Earth, Peace”), “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,” and “Angels We Have Heard on High.”

Indian River High School, under the choral direction and keyboard accompaniment of Russ Faunce, and dance choreographer Tricia Moore, perform “Winter Song” and “Holiday Road” (from the movie “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”).

“High School Holiday Concert: Songs of the Season” will air on WPBS-TV on Sunday, December 16th at 12noon; Monday, December 17th at 9:00 pm; Friday, December 21st at 9:00 pm; and Monday, December 24th at 10:00 pm.  The concert can also be seen online at watch.wpbstv.org beginning Sunday, December 16.
