What to know about a rare but serious medical condition caused by strenuous workouts

Officials at Tufts University are investigating an athletic team workout that resulted in nine lacrosse players being hospitalized. The incident has put a spotlight on rhabdomyolysis, a serious, somewhat rare and potentially fatal muscle condition that can be brought on by overexertion.
