Vice President Kamala Harris said she doesn’t want to take away peoples guns, even saying she owns a gun and that any intruder in her house is “getting shot.”
“I probably shouldn’t have said that,” she laughed. “But my staff will deal with that later.”
Harris was speaking at “Unite for America,” an event hosted by Oprah Winfrey in Michigan and streamed on social media platforms.
The Democratic presidential nominee told Winfrey she supports the Second Amendment, but that something needs to be done to address gun violence in America.
“The fact that our children are sitting in a classroom … and some part of their brain realizes somebody could bust through that classroom door with a weapon, with an assault weapon,” Harris said.
“This is not the sign of a civil society and it doesn’t have to be this way,” she later added.
