WATCH: Rep. Connolly presses Secret Service director about access to guns at Trump rally shooting

Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., questioned Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle in a House Oversight hearing Monday on the July 13 attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Connolly asked whether access to firearms have made the Secret Service’s job “harder or easier.”

“I think the threat environment for protecting our Secret Service protectees is always difficult and that’s dynamic and it’s always evolving,” Cheatle said.

Connolly repeated the question several times, and at one point suggested Cheatle was evading the question.

“I think the job of the Secret Service is difficult on every day, and we need to make sure that we are mitigating all threats,” Cheatle said.
