WPBS Marks Mental Health Awareness Month in May with Special Programming

WATERTOWN, NY (May 1, 2024) – May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It’s been 75 years since the month was first observed – but It has never seemed more relevant. “The pandemic brought the mental health crisis, particularly among youth, Into sharp focus. WPBS Is responding with a compelling lineup of programming to help raise awareness and build understanding,” said Mark Prasuhn, President and General Manager of WPBS. Special programming Includes:

Sunday, May 5

Crazy (3:00 pm)

Eric, a diagnosed schizophrenic, is faced with a critical choice — comply with traditional mental-health treatment or follow his own path to wellness. With extraordinary access to Eric and his doctor, the one-hour documentary explores both sides of the story. A solution eventually enables Eric to graduate from college and claim the recovery and a measure of the autonomy he so desperately craves.

This edition of Aging Matters explores ways to empower older women to ensure continued dignity and a consistent quality of life. Focusing on the challenges women face as they age, including economic insecurity, outliving partners, the responsibilities of caregiving, and policies that impact women over a lifespan.
