WPBS Presents Premiere of New Series FACING WAVES in July 2023

WATERTOWN, NY (July 18, 2023) – WPBS-TV has long been known for presenting locally produced lifestyle series, many of which have been successful and received national distribution across the PBS system, including such titles as Classical Stretch, From a Country Garden, Fishing Behind the Lines, Painting with Wilson Bickford, Radical Restoration, and many more. We are very pleased to launch our latest series in this genre, Facing Waves – which will air on WPBS-TV Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Starting July 20, 2023.

From freshwater fjords to epic ocean surf, the series Facing Waves explores the people, places and adventures of the world’s top paddling destinations with celebrated World Champion kayaker Ken Whiting.

In addition to hosting and producing North America’s only paddling-focused TV series, Whiting is also the creator and influencer behind YouTube’s largest paddling channel, PaddleTV, with 110,000 followers and over 20 million views. Additionally, he is the author of 12 books on paddling, as well as the writer and host of six bestselling instructional DVDs.

“Water covers 70% of our planet and is at the core of our cultures and communities, and paddling is one of the most intimate ways to explore these waterways,” Whiting said. “While Facing Waves has been an amazing way to experience breathtaking paddling adventures, the show has provided an equally great opportunity to discover unique places and meet amazing people who share a similar passion for the outdoors.”

The series, locally-produced and presented by WPBS, will be distributed on PBS stations across the country starting in July 2023. For more information about Facing Waves, visit: https://www.heliconia.ca/portfolio/facing-waves/
