WPBS-TV to Broadcast Live BBC Coverage of the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla

WATERTOWN, NY (May 4, 2023) – Millions of people across the UK and around the world are preparing to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III – a symbolic ceremony combining a religious service and pageantry. The ceremony is being held at Westminster Abbey in London and the King, who will be crowned along with Camilla, the Queen Consort, will be the 40th reigning monarch crowned there since 1066. The day of splendour and formality will feature customs dating back more than 1,000 years. WPBS-TV will broadcast the Coronation live, along with additional special programming:

Saturday, May 6th
The Coronation (2:30 am to 10:00 am)
BBC live coverage of the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

The Coronation: A Day to Remember (8:00 pm to 9:30 pm)
Choice moments of the King’s Coronation, following the procession to Westminster Abbey, the ceremony and the return journey to Buckingham Palace where the newly crowned monarchs greeted the crowds.

Charles R: the Making of a Monarch (9:30 pm to 10:30 pm)
A documentary exploring the past 74 years that Charles has been a king in the making, showing his life as captured on film, home movies and TV cameras.

Sunday, May 7th
Sing for the King (2:00 pm)
The story of the formation of the national choir that will perform on the grounds of Windsor Castle the day following the coronation.

The Coronation Concert (3:00 pm to 5:00 pm)
Lionel Richie and Katy Perry headline the concert showcasing the country’s diverse cultural heritage in music, theatre, and dance. Hugh Bonneville hosts from the grounds of Windsor Castle.
