Bodycam footage released Monday shows law enforcement officers arresting the man suspected in Sunday’s apparent assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump in Florida.
The footage, released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, shows Ryan Wesley Routh following police instructions, walking backward with his hands behind his head before being handcuffed.
He has been charged with federal gun crimes.
According to court documents, Routh camped outside the golf courses in West Palm Beach for nearly 12 hours.
The Secret Service said Monday that the suspect did not have a line of sight on the former president and never fired his weapon.
The FBI on Monday afternoon said Routh was the subject of closed 2019 investigation following a tip that he illegally possessed a gun.
The incident comes just over two months after a gunman fired on Trump during a Pennsylvania campaign rally.
